Dressing To Impress: What to Wear on the First Date

It’s always difficult deciding what to wear on the first date. You want to make a good impression without necessarily appearing to be trying too hard. So what do you wear? The trusted and faithful LBD is perhaps a little too much, whilst your jeans are too casual. Before you go and throw your wardrobe (and state of mind) into disarray, I’ve trawled through the season’s best pieces and handpicked my perfect first date outfit.

The Dress

Asymmetric dress American Apparel

Let’s start with the dress. This lovely little number from American Apparel is perfect. It’s versatile, flattering and this sea-blue shade is summery but not too loud. The asymmetic cut allows you to show a bit of skin and its understated sexiness keeps things elegant.

Time to Accessorize!

Add colour with this corsage skinny belt from ASOS.It breaks up the monotony of the dress and also gives you a waistline, drawing you in and making your legs look longer.

Keep things playful with these paisley flower cut-out boots and this leather flower clutch, both from Topshop. Neutrals are big next season and these unassuming accessories compliment the look without detracting attention from the most important thing, which is you!

I sometimes think we girls spend too much time worrying about what we look like on the outside? it’s what’s on the inside that counts….
    Isn’t it?

  2. Stacey says:

surely it depends on where you are going (it’s so easy for men).

I couldn’t decide what to wear to a first date last week, when my friend told me about this blog post…took your advice and went for a summery dress (not an LBD) and now I can’t decide what to wear for date two! Thanks for the ideas
